A NEW mum is set to take on the London Marathon later this year after suffering from years of mental health and weight problems.
Bex Rossall will compete in the Capital in October having dropped five stone thanks to Slimming World.
Following the transformation, Bex, from Bulford, said she couldn’t feel any healthier by accomplishing her weight loss goal and staying healthy.
Bex said: “Having suffered from weight and mental health concerns since my teens through to my 20s, I’d begun to self loathe through food, I was ashamed and disgusted at the person I had become.
“I felt no self-worth and in turn was reflected in a lack of looking after my body and mind. Moving to Salisbury in a new relationship we were both tired of reaching for quick and convenient foods, the wrong kinds.
“My weight was just getting worse and although I was happy in my relationship, I was hating myself inside.”
After hearing about Slimming World through a friend, Bex signed up with the weight loss giants online, being too concerned to attend the walk-in sessions.
Bex later decided to face her fears and go to a session, after a chat with her friend.
Bex said: “It has been the support group that has been so crucial to my journey, I was petrified when I walked in, but no one judged me and stopped staring at the ‘new fat girl’.”
Since then, Bex has had a healthier diet, sharing her fresh creations and fakeaways during weekends.
On fitness Bex said: “It wasn’t until midway through my journey that I started to exercise, using the Couch to 5k app.”
In January 2021 Bex was pregnant but was still able to carry on running through help from a pregnancy and breastfeeding leaflet. She is now eight months postpartum and back at her original target weight.
Bex said: “I was lucky to secure a place on the Slimming World London Marathon team in 2020 but due to Covid and being pregnant I had to defer my place to this year.
“I never would have dreamt back in 2016 that I would enter a marathon or lose five stone, Slimming World has changed my life.”
