YOUNG people in Andover enjoyed a day of creative activities last week thanks to a local charity organisation.

On Thursday, April 21 young people of Andover gathered at the Augusta Park community hall to enjoy a morning of creativity with John from The Artoom.

They spent the morning planning their own designs which were then painted onto a flowerpot, to be gifted to some older members of the community.

The event, organised by charity Unity, was made possible by a TVBC community grant which was supported by Cllr Tasker, who went along to the event.

She said: “It was great to see amazing creativity in the room.”

John Ritchie ,who owns and runs The Artroom in Andover, added: “It was a pleasure to be involved in this project. Such fab work.”

After all their creative hard work the young people shared a pizza lunch together, which was provided by Nigel Male, owner of Nidge’s Artisan Pizza Kitchen. The young people were given a menu by Nigel so that they could order their own, and he also shared some pizza knowledge with them.

An easter egg was given to each young person to take home these had been donated by The Andover Food Bank.

The event was met by a lot of parental support. Debbie Bennet posted to Facebook: "My lad and his mate attended this morning where they painted some plant pots to create a spring gift for older members of the community. They enjoyed themselves, had pizza, and received an Easter egg each. All for free. So, a big thank you to Sarah at Unity and John at The Art Room for keeping them occupied this morning.”

Unity has lots more events planned in the Test Valley area, If you would like to be informed about them please email your contact details to Sarah: sarah.gisbourne@unityonline.org.
