A WOMEN’S INSTITUTE is celebrating after one of its members created a Platinum Jubilee card which has been selected to be presented to the Queen.
Upper Clatford WI are delighted that a card for Her Majesty The Queen’s Jubilee, made by member Jan Matthews, was chosen to represent the Hampshire County Federation WI.
The announcement was made at the recent Spring Council meeting held in Portsmouth.
The beautiful card took Jan many hours to make. She has been card crafting for many years and it is a hobby she loves doing.
She wanted to represent the four nations and came up with a design which does just that. The bi-fold design depicts the flowers of the four nations, England’s Rose, Scotland’s Thistle, Wales’ Daffodil and Ireland’s Shamrock.
Jan said: “I was thrilled to have my card chosen to represent us in Upper Clatford WI and hope the Queen enjoys receiving it for her Platinum Jubilee.”
A spokesperson for Upper Clatford WI added: “We are all extremely proud of Jan and we are hoping she might pass on some of her wonderful skills to us!
“Well done again to Jan from all your friends in Upper Clatford WI.”
