THE new mayor of Test Valley has unveiled the newly refurbished jubilee lamppost in Andover town centre.
Ahead of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the black cast iron lamppost erected in front of the Guildhall has been refurbished.
In 1887, to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee, the column was commissioned and placed in Andover High Street.

Ninety years later it was refurbished and brought back into use to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s Silver Jubilee in 1977.
On Wednesday, May 18, following the annual Mayor Making, members of Test Valley Borough Council gathered for the unveiling ceremony, led by newly elected Mayor Cllr Alan Dowden.
