AN ANDOVER charitable organisation is looking for new recruits to join its team.

There is an exciting opportunity available through The Andover Charities Trustees for up to two people to live within a small community and oversee the grounds and residents of 14 bungalows at Borsberry Close, and four flats at The Acre, Andover.

The Caretaker duties would include maintaining gardens on the small estate carrying out minor odd jobs, checking on the welfare of the residents, liaising with Trust members, and overseeing the outsourcing of minor repairs.

The appointment is an unpaid position with a two-bedroom bungalow provided rent free (bills would need to be covered by Caretaker).

Appointment to the post would be dependent on a DBS check.

In addition, The Andover Charities Trustees are looking for two new Trustees to join their board.

They are ideally looking for people with Governance experience, or who have knowledge of developing strategic plans, or with a financial background, most important is someone who is keen, intelligent, creative and is interested in Almshouses.

The Trustees typically meet up once a quarter, with occasional additional meetings when there are specific things to be decided. There is also a request that Trustees attend grant giving sessions, roughly once every six weeks.

The Andover Charities has been in existence in one form or another since at least 1470AD, and has been a part of supporting Andover ever since.

The charity currently owns 19 Almshouses in Andover, and gives grants to people in need living in Andover.
