AN ANDOVER couple has completed their renovations on the formerly derelict ‘Jumanji’ property on Charlton Road.
As previously reported, Darren Andrews and Ella Attrill, who own Della Estates, acquired 91 Charlton Road last year, after spending two years fighting to recover it from 30 years of neglect by its previous owners.
Lying vacant for three decades, some residents even called it ‘Jumanji’ house because of its overgrown garden and run-down aesthetic.
The couple, who are both from Andover, set out on a mission to give the dilapidated building a new lease of life.
In just six months, it was unrecognisable.

Darren told the Advertiser that, while the firm has now transformed a portfolio of around 10 houses, this one was “special”.
“Everything is brand new,” he said. “Everyone has said they really love the modern, contemporary look that we have gone for. We are absolutely delighted with the result. I think it’s probably one of the best ones we have done.”
Darren, 36, continued: “We have gone a bit extra one this one. We have really gone to town on this because we wanted to make this one special. It’s gone from the worst house on the street to the best, highest-value house on the street.”
The three-bedroom semi-detached property is open plan and features brand new fixtures in every room, including windows, doors, and flooring.
The features include: an extension with Bifold doors and roof lantern; LVT flooring ; matt black kitchen with island; pre-finished oak doors with black ironmongery; anthracite composite front and back doors and double glazing; electric radiators throughout with a large megaflow electric cylinder; and a fully tarmaced driveway with dropped curb.
It is now on the market through Austin Hawk with a guide price of £415,000 - and can also be purchased fully furnished in ‘show home’ condition, including the garden hot tub.
Both Darren and Ella grew up on council estates in Andover, with their first homes in King Arthur’s Way and Pilgrim’s Way respectively. They would drive by the house and feel sad that it was a blight on the town.
“We wanted to bring the town up a notch,” said Darren. “There are some houses in Andover that need a bit of love.
“We get to know that a family is going to enjoy it and won't really have to do anything to it for the next 20 years!”

The couple now live in Gallaghers Mead with their four-year-old daughter Sienna.
They now have their sights set on acquiring new projects in the town. After a recent disappointment with a very similar property on Newtown Close, Darren says it’s “onto the next one”.
The stunning family home at 91 Charlton Road is available to view at an open day on Saturday, June 11, by appointment only.
