HAVE you ever been watching something and thought – I know that place?
Chances are, you probably did recognise that backdrop.
Dozens of movies and TV shows have been filmed in Hampshire.
Here is a list of them all:
Tenet (2020)
Arguably the biggest film of last year, the science fiction action thriller film, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, was partly filmed in Southampton.
The city is listed under the filming locations on IMDb, which is the most reliable database for media productions.
Specific locations have been discussed by speculators on Reddit. One said they saw a film crew at Ocean Village and heard American accents at around the time Tenet was being filmed.
Another claims the docks were used for a small portion of the movie.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
The movie, which features Game of Thrones actress, Emilia Clarke, and Hunger Games star, Woody Harrelson, is a spin off looking at the life of Han Solo.
American actor Alden Ehrenreich portrays the cynical smuggler in his younger years, prior to the events of the original series, where he was famously played by Harrison Ford.
If you look closely at the first 15 minutes of the movie, you can see the set is at Fawley Power Station – although it has been heavily dubbed with CGI.
Diamonds are Forever (1971)
Sir Sean Connery appeared as Bond six times - and a notable seventh time in the film Never Say Never Again which was not made by the same studio.
His final Bond film with Eon Productions was Diamonds Are Forever in 1971, which was partly filmed in Southampton Docks.
The docks proved to be the perfect setting.
Billions (2016 – )
The hit US show follows Chuck Rhoades, a sincere but ruthless US attorney, who engages in an egoistic battle with hedge fund kingpin Bobby 'Axe' Axelrod as they try to outdo each other in the competitive financial market.
Film crews for the show were spotted at Shawford Park house near Winchester earlier this year.
The Crown (2016 – )
Charles and Diana’s wedding and Lord Mountbatten’s funeral from the Netflix’s series The Crown were filmed at the Winchester Cathedral.
While the cathedral was transformed into St Paul’s Cathedral for the wedding, it was made to look like Westminster Abbey for the funeral.
Other Hampshire locations have also appeared in The Crown including Rhinefield House which portrayed one of the royal residences on the Balmoral estate and Somerley House which acted as a stand in for the royal couple's country estate, Highgrove.
Gladiator (2000)
Parts of one of the most popular movies ever, Gladiator, was filmed in and around Hampshire.
Russell Crowe has also explored the depths of Alice Holt Forest for the movie, while the opening bloody battle scene was filmed at Bourne Wood, near Hampshire.
Downton Abbey (2010-2015)
Another popular period drama, Downton Abbey, was also filmed in Hampshire at the Highclere Castle estate to the north of the county.
This is used as the residence of the Grantham family.
The Da Vinci Code (2006)
Winchester Cathedral was transformed into the Vatican in 2006 for the American mystery thriller The Da Vinci Code.
The cathedral was paid a reported £20,000.
