A PUB manager has thanked her regulars for all the help they gave her while the inn was being renovated.
Cheryl Goldsmith, general manager of the Queen Charlotte, in Andover, said that the pubs regulars had been very help during the recent refurbishment of the pub.
Cheryl said: “I’d just like to thank the regulars who come in.
“I’ve worked in other pubs for other companies, and the community spirit around this pub is absolutely amazing.
“The Friday that we opened the sports bar and the kitchen, we were running behind on schedule, and had regulars putting tables together for me, I had regulars cleaning for me, they all did it, and they wouldn’t accept anything for it.
“And now we’re trying to give something back to the community.”
Beginning in February and concluding three months later, the work done on the pub includes a new sports bar, as well as an outdoor seating area which will contain heaters in the colder months.
The kitchen has also been re-done, with Cheryl taking the opportunity to write a new menu containing pub classics such as steak and ale pie, fish and chips and an all-day breakfast.
Cheryl said that this first round of renovations is just the beginning, and that she has plenty more plans for the future of The Queen Charlotte.
“I’m getting two more pool tables next Friday and some new gaming machines.
“I’m looking to get hopefully a temporary events notice licence so I can hold events in the early hours, so I can open up for boxing matches and things.”
Despite all of these changes, Cheryl said that The Queen Charlotte is still a simple, traditional pub.
“We’re trying to go back to basics.
“It’s a family run pub with good English food and we want to embrace the local community and bring them into the pub.”
