A NATURE conservation charity based in Andover will be presenting a series of events to celebrate its 10-year anniversary.
Andover Trees United is celebrating 10 years of climate action, community volunteering, woodland creation and voluntary conservation and arts in Andover.
The celebrations will begin with a one-off, outdoor concert held in Harmony Woods on July 16.
The Voices in Harmony concert will feature a performance by a pop-up intergenerational choir founded by ATU.
The choir is formed of local residents from Andover and its surrounding villages.
The community choir and children from schools around Andover will perform at the concert alongside pioneering sound artist Justin Wiggin.
The concert will also feature the first public performance of a new composition entitled “The Tree Music Shanty”, which was written by pupils from three Andover area schools alongside folk musician Paul Sartin.
Voices in Harmony will also see a surprise appearance from several special musical guests.
There will be two concert performances with a matinee performance at 2.30pm-4pm, and an evening performance from 6.45pm-8.15pm.
The concert is not the only event that ATU is holding to celebrate its anniversary.
The charity is holding a pair of artist-led walks entitled “Living by the Ash Tree Waters”.
These walks will take place on Sunday, July 17 at Anton Lakes.
There will be two timeslots to choose from, with one walk taking place from 10am-midday, and the other from noon-2pm.
The walks will provide attendees with the opportunity to use specially designed “nature explorer backpacks” developed by environmental artist James Aldreidge, working alongside pupils from local schools.
The walks will also feature picnics, and a pop-up concert led by Paul.
ATU will also be holding an art exhibition celebrating sustainable forestry and wood crafts.
The One Ash Exhibition will be open every Thursday-Saturday from July 7-25.

Located at Chapel Arts Studios in St Mary’s Church cemetery, this exhibition will showcase the work of local artists and craftspeople, with everything on display having been made from an ash tree.
This exhibition will be the culmination of a four-year project following the felling of one ash tree to the final exhibition works.
Andover Trees United founder Wendy Davis said: “It is a privilege working with so many diverse members of our community inclusively.
“We continue to grow our volunteering and educational hub to invest in the overall environmental health and wellbeing of our community.
