The Queen was not alone in commemorating a Platinum Jubilee this June, as the 9th Andover (Town) Scout Group celebrated their 70th Anniversary with a group outing to Brownsea Island, the birthplace of Scouting.
Nearly 80 group members made the trip to Brownsea on Saturday, June 25.
The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts enjoyed a full day of activities, from a scavenger hunt to a nature hike, and from building dens to making the most of the woodland playground.
The group came together at 2pm to renew their promises by the Commemorative Stone, and the day was of course rounded off with an obligatory ice cream.
Phil Deverill, group Scout leader, said: “It was fantastic for our group to visit the birthplace of Scouting as a way of marking our Platinum Jubilee.
“We also held a family fun day in May and are planning a weekend camp in September to round off the Jubilee celebrations.”
The 9th Andover Scout Group meet at St Ann’s Hall, Suffolk Road, and the group hasmore than 70 youth members from age 6 through to 14.
