ANDOVER’s first Summer Fayre will be held at Vigo Road Recreation Ground next month.
The event, organised by Our Andover CIC, will be held from 12pm to 5pm on Saturday, August 27.
The ‘traditional’ fayre is aimed at enabling local businesses and community groups and residents to get involved, promote their individual groups while providing activities that provide a fun time for visitors.

The event will have a tea and cake tent, an alcohol tombola, hot and cold food and drink, a beer tent, and on-the-day raffle with a £500 first prize.
The fayre will also have activities for families and kids like sack race, brass bands, birds of prey, performers, music, bric-a-brac, toys, books, jumble stalls, train and donkey rides and an event arena with traditional children’s activities.
Andover Town Council Mayor Cllr David Coole, who is also one of the directors of Our Andover CIC, said the fayre is also aiming to raise funds for improvements in Andover and surrounding villages and to support local causes.
“We are inviting local businesses and community groups to take part and if they contribute towards the fayre, they do not have to pay a fee for their stall.
“Contributing could be sponsorship, running a fundraising activity beside their own stall to help raise funds for the fayre. This could be help in setting up or taking down the fayre, asking for and collecting residents’ donations for the tombola, jumble, toys, bric-a-brac and books, DVDs-CDs stalls, helping as a marshal, donating a generous raffle prize, delivering leaflets, baking cakes or buns for the tea and cake tent, etc."

The Andover Fayre will have the support of Upper Clatford May Fayre committee.
There are two drop-off locations for donations – at the Save It Discount Store in Andover Town Centre and the Co-op in Salisbury Road. The Co-op will only accept books, CDs and DVDs as donations.
