RESIDENTS in Hampshire have been invited to a spectacular open-air picnic concert which has been organised to support an Armed Forces charity.

Tickets are still available for Battle Proms at Highclere Castle which will take place on Saturday, July 30. The spectacular open-air picnic concert will be supporting SSAFA, which is an Armed Forces charity.

Battle Proms is a summer celebration with live orchestral music, carefully choreographed Spitfire and parachute displays, dramatic cannon fire and cavalry displays with a spectacular musical firework finale.

Jonathan Sandall, director of fundraising for SSAFA, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Battle Proms for the fifth year running.  The summer concerts are a huge part of our events calendar and we feel privileged to be involved again. To date, we have raised an outstanding £500,000 to help fund SSAFA’s vital work supporting members of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

"With the country facing an almost unprecedented cost of living crisis following hard on the heels of a two year pandemic, never has this support been more important. So, a huge thank you to everyone who has bought a ticket this year, and to those that haven’t yet, it’s not too late and it really is a brilliant day for all to enjoy!"

Since 2004, the UK’s premier picnic concert series, Battle Proms, has been supporting military charities, with their running total raised now standing at more than £500,000.

This is the fifth year that they have joined forces with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity to raise funds and awareness of its vital work within the Armed Forces community.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing lifelong support to our Forces and their families since 1885. In 2020, our teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 79,000 people in need, from Second World War veterans to young men and women who have served in more recent conflicts, and their families.

The SSAFA family includes the Military Wives Choirs, both an independent charity and a subsidiary of SSAFA, which supports women across the military community.
