A TEST Valley man has been convicted of stalking in south Wales.
Geraint Martin Lewis pursued a course of conduct in Port Talbot by making unwanted telephone calls, text messages and social media contact with a woman between September 1 2021 and December 23 2021.
Lewis, 34, of Chestnut Square, Middle Wallop, had denied the charge but was found guilty at a trial at Cardiff Magistrates Court on Friday July 22.
At sentencing on Tuesday July 26 he was jailed for 12 weeks suspended for two years, with magistrates saying the prison sentence was warranted because it was persistent stalking and harassment over a period of time.
But the Bench said it could be suspended due to Lewis's lack of previous convictions and prospect of rehabilitation in the community.
Lewis must take part in a 31-day Building Better Relationships programme with a rehabilitation activity requirement for up to 15 days.
A restraining order was also imposed banning Lewis from contacting the woman, to last until July 25 2027.
He must also pay £850 prosecution costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
