TEMPERATURES are on the rise in Andover with predictions that the area will see highs in the low 30s in the week ahead.
This comes as The Met Office warns that another heatwave is on the way in parts of the UK this week.
Temperatures are expected to increase as the week progresses, with highs of 31C on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
This comes on the heels of a hosepipe ban coming into effect in parts of the country.
Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Tony Wardle said: “Heatwave criteria look likely to be met for large areas of the UK later this week, with the hottest areas expected in central and southern England and Wales on Friday and Saturday.
“Temperatures could peak at 35C, or even an isolated 36C on Saturday.”
In response to the news of the heatwave, the UK Health Security Agency has issued a level 3 heat health alert for southern and central England.
The alert is in force from Tuesday, August 9, with the UKHSA advising people to look out for vulnerable people, including older people, young children and those with underlying health conditions.
The main health risks posed by a heatwave are dehydration, overheating, and heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The top ways to stay safe during a heat wave is to stay cool indoors if possible, drink plenty of fluids, walk in the shade if you have to go out, and avoid physical exertion during the hottest parts of the day (typically 11am to 3pm).
