AS students up and down the country receive their A-level results, students from the Wellington Academy have received some good news.
Part of the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust, the academy has reported fantastic outcomes for its sixth form students.
Headteacher Steven Paddock said: “We are extremely proud of the students’ hard work and dedication over the last two years. The students will now be moving on to a range of fantastic opportunities in a variety of areas.
“As in previous years we have the vast majority of our students moving on to university courses and destinations of their choice, including a high percentage of Russell Group Universities.
“There are also a number of students taking up apprenticeships, with the rest of the cohort moving into full time work or taking a gap year to decide which path to take next.
Among the students who received fantastic results are head students Joe Baines and Abi-Rose Lacey.
Abi-Rose will commence her course in sport and exercise-therapy at the University of Winchester in September.
Meanwhile, Joe will take a gap year where he will work as an academic mentor at The Wellington Academy, before attending the London School of Economics to read philosophy, politics and economics.
Other notable results include Matt Prescott who secured a place studying accounting and finaical management at Loughborough University after receiving ABB, and Ellie Higgins who received A*BB allowing her to study Biology at the University of Southampton.
Head of sixth form Dave Bissington said: “This is the eleventh results day I have now been a part of at Wellington Academy and one of the days I am proudest of.

“Having seen their GCSEs cancelled in 2020 and then having to face additional challenges over their last two years, the students have shown phenomenal resilience and determination to complete their courses to their best possible standard.
“The range of destinations demonstrates that students really can move into any field they set their heart on and I know all students are well equipped for whatever challenges may come their way moving forward.”
