STARS from across the motorsport world are set to come together to help raise vital funds for motor neurone disease research, in honour of a loving brother.
They will meet on August 25 at Thruxton Kart Centre for the second year of Karting4MND. Organised by Racing4Charity this karting event is organised by Bill Williams and David Brabham to help raise vital funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Karting4Charity was created in honour of Bill’s brother Gideon Williams who died from motor neurone disease in July 2022 and Neil Cunningham who lost his life to the same disease in 2016.

Bill said: “My brother, Gideon, was a motorsport nut. He loved it and when he was diagnosed with his MND (motor neurone disease) he made me promise to hold an annual event in his memory. I only agreed if he promised to attend Thruxton, his favourite kart circuit, in 2021. He did, he was able to talk to all the participants and used his awful experience with MND to have us all laughing about the situations he was suffering. Such a brave, brave man. I loved Gideon as much as any brother should and myself and David Brabham believe it is an absolute honour to organise this event in his name.”
A total of 18 teams made up of members from across the motorsport world competed for two trophies named in honour of both Gideon and Neil. Team Bennie and the Jets, with drivers Ben Davis, Tylor Ballard, James Duncan and Paul Streather, were crowned the race winners and the first ever recipients of the Gideon Williams Trophy. The event in total raised £13,563 with help from MATE Bike who kindly donated an e-Bike to raffle and from generous donations of those supporting on the day.

This year's event is set to be another winning performance the two-hour race starting at 1.30pm.
Helen Mackie, from the motor neurone disease association, added: "Without the amazing support of people like Bill and David and all their hard work organising Karting4MND the MND Association simply would not be able to provide its vital support services, fund research to find a cure and campaign and raise awareness of MND. Last year was such a special event and I am really looking forward to being back to cheer on all the teams and honour both Gideon and Neil. Everyone who supports Racing4Charity is making a big difference to the MND community and we are all so grateful.”
