Harasser jailed
AN ANDOVER man who posted partially clothed photos of a woman on the internet has been jailed.
Robert Wyatt, of Turin Court, posted pictures of the victim online and sent her numerous unwanted text messages between July 17 and 20.
On July 19 he damaged a television and mirror belonging to the same woman. Then on September 19 he assaulted her.
During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, Wyatt admitted to charges of harassment without violence, two counts of assault by beating and criminal damage.
The court heard that the offences were committed while Wyatt was on bail.
Magistrates jailed the 34-year-old for 10 weeks. They said that “the offences are so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified”.
Unpaid work
AN ANDOVER man who was caught with a knife in a public place has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Michael Sitonik, of Turnpike Road, admitted to possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.
The 19-year-old was found with the knife in Andover on June 27.
Magistrates ordered Sitonik to carry out 80 hours unpaid work. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
Careless driver
A CARELESS driver has been hit with points on his licence and fined.
Isma Katumwa, of Roving Close, Andover, was caught on Millway Road, on February 5, driving a Toyota Yaris without due care and attention. It was also found that he had no insurance.
During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, the 35-year-old admitted to both offences.
His driving licence was endorsed with six points, and he was fined £120. He must also pay £40 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
Fly-tipper fined
MAGISTRATES have fined a man hundreds of pounds after he admitted to fly-tipping in Andover.
Michael Cole dumped bags of garden and household waste, along with a car radio, on land at Newbury Hill on or before June 30, last year.
Cole, of Madiera Avenue, Bromley, Kent, discarded the waste without the authority of a current environmental permit. During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to the offence.
He was fined £480 and told to pay court costs of £289. He must also pay a £48 victim surcharge.
