A FAYRE has been declared a huge success as thousands of people enjoyed Andover's first summer fayre in Vigo Park this weekend.
The fayre was aimed at enabling local businesses and community groups and residents to get involved, promote their individual groups while providing activities that provide a fun time for visitors.
Andover Town Council Mayor Cllr David Coole, who is also one of the directors of Our Andover CIC and organisers of the fayre, said: "It was an absolutely amazing event, it was a real pleasure to see so many families there enjoying themselves, meeting friends and new people and just seeing them all get involved with the activities that were taking place.
"An absolute massive thanks to all the volunteers that helped make the day happen and all the businesses who came that made the day the success it was.
"Memories were made, it was a great day for everyone. We haven't yet finished counting how much money we have raised but as soon as we have, we will be announcing that on our social media pages!"
The fayre also had activities for families and kids like sack race, brass bands, birds of prey, performers, music, bric-a-brac, toys, books, jumble stalls, train and donkey rides and an event arena with traditional children’s activities.
The event also had a tea and cake tent, an alcohol tombola, hot and cold food and drink, a beer tent, and on-the-day raffle with a £500 first prize.
