AMI Taylor is doing something unique to raise money for cancer research and early diagnosis.

After losing her father-in-law, uncle and grandad to cancer, Ami wanted to honour those she has lost, whilst starting the conversation about early cancer diagnosis and raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Ami, who works as a project manager, is running 50km dressed as box of crayons - making her stand out from the crowd.

Last weekend Ami took part in Andover Parkrun, taking her total running distance to 30km. On September 3 she will be at Lydiard Parkrun and plans to finish with a 10km run along the Thames at the end of this month.

She said: “If just one person goes to the doctor on the back of my challenge, I would be so pleased. Running as a box of crayons is not a normal thing to do, getting checked out by the doctor if something isn’t quite right, is!

"I have to be honest, I feel very silly running around as a box of crayons, but it reminds me a lot of people feel silly about getting checked out and they really shouldn’t, so that keeps me going. I have spoken to so many people and heard so many stories, I have shed tears and met some amazing people."

Ami, who lives in Hungerford, but grew up in Newbury, wanted to remind people that the NHS do want to see them and that you are never wasting their time if you have concerns about cancer symptoms.

She has also recently started creating social media reels talking about a range of symptoms including bowel, breast and prostate cancer.
