A DRUG supplier from Andover has been jailed after police found around £25,000 worth of cannabis at an address in the town.
On May 28 officers were called to the home of Norman Stringer, in Rack Close, following reports of suspected Class B drugs, cannabis, at the property.
Officers attended and searched the address. They found a large bag filled with cannabis, a number of harvested cannabis plants, cash, scales, a cannabis resin press and a number of other items associated with drugs supply, all of which was seized.
On June 22, officers returned to Stringer's address and found more cannabis and items associated with drugs supply.
The 52-year-old was arrested and charged with two offences of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
On Friday, August 26, Stringer appeared at Winchester Crown Court to be sentenced. He pleaded guilty to the two charges during an earlier hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.
Recorder Adam Feest QC jailed Stringer for 12 months for both drug offences.
He also had a suspended sentence of 10 months that related to a previous matter activated, resulting in him being jailed for a total of 22 months.
Detective Sergeant Sarah Page from the Northern Investigations team said: “Stringer was found in possession of a large amount of cannabis with a high street value which has now been seized and destroyed.
“Drugs and associated crimes can be devastating for communities which is why tackling these issues remains one of our priorities.
“I hope this sentence sends out a strong message that drugs supply will not be tolerated in Andover and anyone found to be involved in such activity will be identified and put before the courts to face justice.”
