THE daughter of a woman who started a dog rescue charity has vowed to continue the mission in her mother's memory.

Calli Byrne, who set up charity Staffie and Stray Rescue eight years ago, which has helped dogs throughout Hampshire, died from cancer after a short illness on July 5, just two weeks after her 48th birthday.

Since rescuing her first puppy in 2014 and realising how many dogs needed help, Calli had dedicated her life to the charity.

Aimee Leigh Vye, Calli's daughter, said: "We are all continuing her legacy, and will continue it the way she would have wanted it to be. We just want everyone to know who Mum was and despite that she is no longer here, we are going to continue the rescue the best we can.

"We are solely run from public donations so we just want to spread the word so that if people could donate anything they can, it would really help."

Aimee said the charity would be continuing its work across Hampshire, rehoming challenging and complex dogs, and working to improve public perception of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed.

Calli went to Oakmead School in Bournemouth when she was younger and lived in Ferndown, in Bournemouth. Her main aim was to one day turn the rescue into her own kennels, therefore to try and make her dream hopefully come true a fundraiser to create Calli's Kennels has been set up.
