AN ELDERLY woman has issued a warning after callers, using Andover phone numbers, tried to scam her.
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, was awaiting a phone call when she recieved an automated message telling her that large bank transfers of money had been taken from her bank. She was instructed press one to confirm or press two to speak to someone.
The Andover resident in her 80s quickly realised it was scam, but was targeted again the following day - both calls were made from numbers with the Andover area code, 01264.
The woman double checked with the bank if the call was genuine, and if money had been taken out of her account.
The bank responded and told told her that it would never contact customers in this way.
She said: "I just wanted to warn people that scam callers are still a thing and to be careful."
