THE spirit of Christmas in Andover is set to ramp up this December as a new event has been added to the town’s festive calendar.
The Andover Winter Wonderland Day was announced on social media earlier this week, with a joyous response from residents.
One of the highlights of the day will be at Riverside Park as its transformed into a winter wonderland, allowing people to explore the park with photo opportunities, fake snow, activities and more.
There will also be a Christmas Market in the High Street, giving shoppers the opportunity to buy Christmas gifts from talented traders and enjoy the delicious food, drink and entertainment.
Organiser Dmitrijs Meiksans said: “I am so pleased to be able to bring this event to fruition for the town to enjoy, and be able to boost morale for the town after a few dreadful years where the festival season might have not felt like the festive season at all!”
The event will take place on December 4 and will run from 12pm to 11pm.
So far, 2,200 people have responded to the event on Facebook, and 52,000 people have been reached with the promotion on social media alone, with the organisers justifying these numbers as Andover clearly wanting more events for the town.
Dmitrijs added: “We are so amazed at the shear amount of support we have already received, especially in the number of stalls that have come forward to be a part of the day, and the sponsors that have already chipped in to make this event a reality.”
Business sponsors of the event are to be announced in the lead up.
