TWO friends have laced up their walking boots to raise thousands of pounds for a cancer support charity.

Hollie Cradduck and Jordan Stuart walked Test Way on Monday to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The walk, which they expected to be 44 miles, actually turned out to be 50-miles long and took them a total of 17 hours and 25 minutes. They started walking at 5.15am and finished at midnight.

Hollie, a broadcast journalist for Sky News and Sky Sports, said: "One day Jordan just said 'I want to walk Test Way' and I just agreed to do it with him, we decided to do it in a day as a challenge."

Speaking about the walk, Hollie said: "It was when it got dark that the thunder and lightning started, the real blisters began to show, the talking ceased for a bit and you start to get in your own head."

The friends decided to do the walk in support of Macmillan after losing a close family friend, Tony, last year to cancer, who was the manager of Bookers and known by everyone where they live in St Mary Bourne.

On Thursday they reached their goal of raising £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

A collection pot has also been placed at the friends regular local pub, The George Inn, where whatever is put in the pot will be matched by the pub.

Hollie, who said she loves doing crazy things, took part in a Three Peaks challenge two weeks before walking Test Way and is also set to take part in the Half Ironman triathlon next week.

Jordan, who is one of the owners of Kong Scaffolding in Andover, took a relaxed approach and also successfully completed the long walk.
