AN INQUEST has been opened after an Andover man died on the railway at Grateley last month.
Thomas Elliman, 60, of Wool Grove, was struck by a South Western Railway train on August 15.
The hearing at Winchester Coroner's Court on Thursday, September 15, heard that the driver saw Mr Elliman on the track and braked but could not avoid a collision.

Mr Elliman had to be identified by his fingerprints, taken from a Pyrex dish at his home.
Area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp adjourned the inquest for a case management review in six weeks and a full inquest on May 24, 2023.
