PEOPLE attending events to mark the death of Queen Elizabeth II are being urged to call 999 if they see anyone acting suspiciously.
Police have issued an appeal to the public ahead of several church services due to take place across Hampshire..
Posting on social media police said: "It is more than likely that you’ll see a higher footfall in our communities over the coming days, and with that a large police presence, as several commemorative events are held across the county to mark the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
"One such event was held at Winchester Cathedral last evening which saw approx. 2,000 people in attendance at the Cathedral and in the city, being supported by our Special Constabulary to ensure the safety of all attendees during the event.
"There are due to be a large number of memorial events being held at local churches in your communities today which will see local officers attending.
"If you see or witness anything that might be of concern or see anyone acting suspiciously, then please dial 999 immediately or speak with an officer if they are in attendance."
