A PAIR of primary schools have given parents a taste of school life with a special welcome dinner.
Parents were invited to Wellington Eagles and Lions Academies to sample the school menu and find out what school life will be like for their children in the coming school year.
Taking place on Thursday, September 22, the meal was put together by Harrison Catering Services, and consisted of an array of dishes for parents to sample including lasagne, chicken curry and homemade sausage rolls.

Chef manager Vicky Grinsell was on hand to answer any queries and provide reassurance for parents with children who have special dietary requirements.
She also promoted some fun-themed lunches coming up including a spooky Halloween feast at the end of October and a festive German Christmas Market inspired lunch at the start of December.
Wellington Eagles head Sarah Johnson-Motyl and Wellington Lions head Jake Bailey held meetings to welcome parents and carers and explain the vision and values of both schools.
Sarah said: “We are a school for ‘The Curious Child’.
“Our staff are absolutely passionate about providing your children with the exciting, enriching experiences so they can all achieve success, and we actively encourage them to be enthusiastic, resilient, to collaborate and to be aspirational because after all this is their journey.”
Another exciting area the schools have invested in is the Children’s University, which allows students to learn various life skills, with a “graduation ceremony” at the end of the year.
Governors David Wright and Megan Vallor were also present to welcome parents and answered any questions that the attendees had.

With a large number of military families with their school community, the dinner acted as a chance for both schools to explain the support they have in place and reassure families that they understand the pressures of relocation and starting new schools.
Governor Megan Vallor said: “It’s really important for me as a member of the Army to ensure that our children are not disadvantaged because of our service and that’s one of the reasons that I’m a governor.
“We are currently looking for ways in which we can tap into Army funding for the benefit of our children.”
