ANDOVER town centre is set to witness double spooky fun this month for the Halloween weekend.

Andover BID is aiming to create ‘spooktacular’ events in the town as Test Valley Borough Council is joining hands with InAndover this time.

Following the successes of multiple family-focused initiatives, including last year's Halloween Trail and this year's Easter Trail, the council has decided to partner with the independent business in Andover once again.

The first event, a Halloween Trail, will be held on Saturday, October 29. Entry forms will be available on the day from 11am to 3pm at the InAndover gazebo in the time ring, or within the Chantry Centre.

As well as the ghostly goings on around the town, there will also be live musicians and entertainment in the time ‘warp’ ring.

Many local businesses are taking part in the trail, and each will display a spooky sticker in their window for families to find.

There will be sweet ‘treats’ given out to everyone who completes the trail. 

Event Coordinator Shelley Coburn of InAndover from Andover BID said: “Halloween is a great time for families and communities to come together. We are very happy to be creating free, fun events and occurrences for families in Andover and collaborating with other local organisations, to share in the creation of ‘spell binding experience’ that makes up such a fantastic time of year. 

“Town centre businesses are excited about getting involved in Halloween fancy dress and giving out sweet treats too at one or both of these events too.”

The second event – Trick or Treat, Night Market and Disco – will be held on Monday, October 31.

InAndover said it is really happy to be working alongside Andover Community Events to create this new free event for the Town Centre and create a safe area for families to come and trick or treat in and around the ‘Menacing’ Night Market and many participating businesses.

You can bring your pre-carved pumpkins and pass them to the organisers for judging whilst they build a Pumpkin Pile of Peril to light up the town. 

There will be prizes given for the creepiest costumes, weirdest witches, ghastly ghosts, and vile vampires.

To finish the night, the events will feature Andover Radio DJ Chris Burford putting on the Devilish Disco, illuminating the night with its terrifying tunes and lightshow of terror allowing all those young demons to dance off some sugar.

Kevin Rush from Andover Community Events said: “We are so excited to be bringing this event to the town centre and can’t wait to see all the little monsters roaming the streets. 

“It’s the first time for this event to be taking place but we hope it will become a regular annual gathering. We are also delighted to be collaborating with InAndover and Andover Radio in bringing this event to life for the town.  I really hope people will join us and we really look forward to seeing you all there."
