SWIMMERS from Andover Swimming and Water Club were in action last weekend on home territory against swimmers from Godalming and WeyValley swim clubs.
Saturday night saw more than 100 swimmers from the three clubs take to the pool in Andover to compete in the Gemini Gala.
A total of 49 swimmers from Andover swam in events including backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, front crawl and a host of relays with a number of swimmers achieving PBs.
The evening ended on a high with a squadron relay which saw 10 swimmers compete for each team, swimming front crawl.
The whole pool and spectators gallery were on their feet cheering for their teams to win, as Wey Valley emerged victorious.
Andover Swimming Club chair Jon Lee said: “It was great to be able to hold a competitive gala at the leisure centre again, with so many swimmers competing, and an extra special thank you to the parents who helped volunteer to make the event such a success.”
The club also welcomed town councillors Richard Rowles and Rebecca Meyer who presented the club with a cheque for £1,000.
The club have been able to purchase some much-needed equipment to assist with training and coaching the swimmers along with donating new swim hats to every swimmer.
After witnessing some great performances from the gala, it was back to water polo on Sunday at Whitgift School in Croydon.
Just one Andover Swimming and Water Polo Club representative was in action this time in Megan Ross playing for the Younger Mixed Hampshire Team.
