A SCHOOL in Andover welcomed a BBC radio and TV presenter as part of a project to inspire children to achieve career goals.
Harrow Way Community School played host to Anoushka Williams and producer Daniel Lucas as part of BBC 100 Share Your Story.
Throughout the day students from Years 8 to 11 heard from Anoushka and Daniel as they shared their stories of working at the BBC, overcoming racism and building belief in themselves.

The BBC 100 Share Your Story aims to inspire young people to achieve their career goals and help them realise their ambitions.
Harrow Way is one of a number of schools the BBC will visit reaching thousands of students by the end of the BBC’s centenary year. A total of 35 BBC presenters, 150 BBC staff storytellers, 300 career panellists and 100 BBC stars will take part in the sessions.
Assistant headteacher Graeme Fluellen said: “The BBC is an important part of our media and culture and they’ve pulled together an excellent event which encouraged some thoughtful, fun and down right off the wall questions from our students. The subject matter was wide-ranging, from how Anoushka and Daniel got into broadcasting to some of the hurdles they’ve faced so they really gave our students an honest overview.
“We are committed to giving students access to as many interesting and diverse speakers as possible from the world of work outside of school and this was an excellent event that we hope inspired some of our community.”

Harrow Way offers students a comprehensive programme of opportunities including a dedicated careers programme, which links curriculum learning to careers and opportunities to engage with a range of employers. Careers lessons form part of the school’s personal development programme and the in-house careers advisor helps guide students towards potential post-16 opportunities and careers.
Mr Fluellen continued: “Following the success of Anoushka and Daniel’s trip we have been fortunate to organise a return visit from the BBC at the end of November which will focus even more on the careers BBC Share Your Career Story tour. Industry professionals will be guided by a BBC host through a discussion focused on careers in storytelling.”
