A MAN from Andover has been fined more than £700 after assaulting a police officer.
On February 26, Charlie Wootten assaulted police officer Mark Potter by beating him.
The 23-year-old pleaded guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on October 13.
On the same date, magistrates ordered him to pay a fine of £731 and pay compensation costs of £100.
An Andover man has been ordered to undertake more than 100 hours of unpaid work after assaulting a woman.
Stephen Trim, of Corinthian Close, assaulted a woman in Andover on March 18.
He pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.
Magistrates ordered the 66-year-old to complete 150 hours of unpaid work. On top of this magistrates put in place a restraining order, forbidding Trim from contacting the victim. The order will be in place until October 2024.
A drunk driver from Andover has been disqualified from getting behind the wheel.
Jason Smith, of Swift Close, was stopped by police on September 22 on Smannell Road in Andover.
The 49-year-old was found to have 42 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
He pleaded guilty to the offence at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.
Magistrates disqualified Smith from driving for 12 months and ordered him to pay a fine of £80.
On the same date, he was found to have no driving licence and no insurance. He also pleaded guilty to both offences. No further points were put on his licence for these offences but magistrates ordered Smith to pay a further £120 in court charges.
A man from Andover must complete unpaid work after he assaulted another man.
Darren Plater, of Livia Close, assaulted another man on October 14, 2021. He pleaded guilty to the offence on May 12, 2022.
He also damaged a BMW belonging to the same man to the value of £6,472.39, along with a front door and a letter box.
The court heard that on the same day Plater had a wooden stick which he used as a weapon and used threatening/abusive/insulting words and behaviour to another man.
At Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on October 17, Plater was ordered to carry out unpaid work for a total of 80 hours, which he must complete within the next 12 months.
The 48-year-old was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £95 and court costs of £200.
He must pay £1,100 in compensation and a £100 fine.
No separate charge was given for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour or
disorderly behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused
harassment, alarm or distress.
Another charge of using threatening/abusive/insulting words and behaviour was dismissed.
