After the game, Sam Frost, an Andover resident, said England coach Gareth Southgate got it spot-on against Iran.
He added: "Can't ask for much more. Some people would say 'yeah it's only Iran'. But we were top against Iran and next is USA and I'm looking forward to that."
Louis Attrill, another customer at Anton Arms, said it was a 'dodgy penalty' at the end.
He said: "It ruins the spirit of the whole tournament. What I don't want to hear is everyone moaning about bad results and bad games when you get decisions like that - that are absolutely barbaric. I'm not having it."
But his friend Alex Sams was taking positives from the game and said it was a brilliant result.
"We won 6-2 and we are bringing it home," he said.
