ANDOVER councillors have appointed a new clerk after the former one left the authority after more than 10 years in the role.
During a full council meeting held on Wednesday, November, 23 councillors officially appointed a new clerk Gail Foster.
As previously reported, after 12 years with Andover Town Council, Wendy Coulter decided to move on.
She was both the town clerk, who oversees the council’s administrative team and also the council’s financial officer.
At an extraordinary meeting of the council on Monday, July 25, members discussed how they would go about replacing her.

Mayor of Andover Cllr David Coole said previously: “This has been on the agenda, and none of those who have given their apologies have asked to be considered, unfortunately, they cannot be considered at this point.”
Cllr Gregori then decided to put forward a motion which proposed that £300 be allowed for the recruitment panel, that the town clerk and deputy town clerk have no voting rights, and that all town councillors are given a copy of the motion and invited to put their names forward.
Ms Foster will take over the role officially in December.

Cllr Coole said: To note that the recruitment panel has appointed a new town clerk, Gail Foster, to start on December 19.
"To ratify this decision as per the resolution at full council in September."
The town clerk is expected to advise the council and assist in the formation of overall policies in respect of the authority's activities and in particular to produce all the information required for making effective decisions and to implement constructively all decisions.
The motion was proposed by Cllr Robin Hughes and seconded by Cllr Rowles.
