SHOPS in Andover have been given upgraded two-way radio systems to ensure that businesses can speak to each other and a ranger service for assistance when required.
Andover BID has been visiting town centre businesses to upgrade the radio systems, providing them with new Hytera ‘state-of-the-art’ cellular network units.
The radios, which are linked to the Town Centre BID Ranger service, have many features to help and support businesses, including enhanced and longer battery life, built-in Wi-Fi, improved sound definition and colour screens.
The Andover BID radio system was introduced in 2019 as part of a crime prevention initiative for the town centre. It is enhanced by the supporting DISC data systems.
Andover BID’s Andy Hunt said the organisation will continue its proactive support of businesses in Andover town centre.

It includes implementing strategies and initiatives to ensure the town remains a competitive and great place to visit, shop and do business, developing the town's strength as a ‘Safe, Easy and Convenient’ town, easily accessible and with ample low-cost parking.
Mr Hunt took a trip around the town with the Andover BID Rangers to personally deliver the new radios with updated instructions.
Stuart Prangley, owner of C&M DIY in Andover High Street, said: “These radios are great for my business. They keep me in touch with what is happening in town and alert me if there are problems. I know I can communicate with the town rangers, who will support my staff team or me when necessary.”
