A PICKET Piece man has set up a fundraising page for a woman whose home was destroyed in a “soul-destroying” fire.
Romi Haywood-Mann set up the page after Nicole Prince’s house in Wash Water was burnt down in a fire on December 1 after a lit log fell out of the fire in her house.
Luckily Nicole and her three children were able to escape the house unharmed, but the house was destroyed.

Since then, Nicole has been living in a hotel room, while her children have been staying with their father.
Nicole said: “It’s a bit weird, not seeing my kids anymore, as much.
“I think that’s the hardest thing, not being able to go home and be with my kids out of all of it.
“It just feels like I’m living in a nightmare, it’s just all weird.”
Romi, who has worked with Nicole in the past, set up the fundraiser to try to support her during this time.
At time of writing, the page has raised £295 for Nicole, against a target amount of £5,000.

The 23-year-old Romi said: “I have worked with Nicole a little bit, she is such a lovely lady and she works really hard.
“It was a week before the fire that I saw her and asked how everything is going, she looked a bit stressed – it was on my mind and the next time I saw her she told me she had lost her house in a fire. This couldn’t have come at a worse time.
“She is the sort of person that never asks for anything. On the back of the fire, I thought I would start a fundraiser.”
Nicole, who runs a cleaning business, wanted to thank Romi, as well as everyone who has donated to the fundraiser.
She said: “I’m so grateful.”

Nicole continued: “I don’t feel like I can cope very well at the minute, and I think if it weren’t for my neighbour helping me clear the house and all these people reaching out, I don’t think I would have got through it.
“I don’t even know how to repay everyone that’s been so kind, but I don’t understand how much it has actually helped me get through it.”
