A LAMP post installed in the middle of a footpath in Andover has been slammed as "concerning".
An Isle of Wight resident who came to visit his son in Picket Piece along with his wife in a wheelchair said he was shocked to see the lamp post on a narrow footpath in Heathcote Road.
Malcolm Miller, 79, shared a photo showing the lamp post right in the middle of the footpath, with hardly any space on either side making it difficult for people with limited mobility.
The footpath is part of David Wilson Homes' new development in Picket Piece.

After the Advertiser asked the Test Valley Borough Council about the location of the lamp post, a council spokesperson said it appears that there has been a breach of the planning permission.
The spokesperson added that the council's planning enforcement team will be investigating the matter and contacting the developers to seek its relocation.
Mr Miller spotted the lamp post blocking the narrow footpath as he was pushing his wife in a wheelchair.
“This is not a very good access for wheelchairs, pushchairs and prams,” said Mr Miller.
“I am particularly concerned about partially-sighted people. They will find this design really difficult. I used to work on the railway a long time ago and I am aware of people with partial sight would find it tough.
“To be honest, this is the first time I have seen a lamp post on such a narrow footpath.”

Reacting to the concerns raised by Mr Miller, a TVBC spokesperson said: "Based on the planning application submitted, the lamp post on Heathcote Road was meant to be located a short distance to the south of where it currently stands, where the footpath is wider.
"As such it appears there has been a breach of the planning permission. Due to the access problems that have clearly resulted from the re-siting of the lamp post, our planning enforcement team will be investigating the matter and contacting the developers to seek its relocation.”
A spokesperson for David Wilson Homes Southern said: "The lamppost, which was installed four years ago, is not situated on a footpath but instead is on a tarmacked service margin – the footpath crosses the road before it reaches the lamppost and continues on the west side of the road.
“The service margin simply provides an area for utility companies to access and install their equipment and is not intended to be used as a footpath.”
