A PUB in Upton is celebrating after getting recognised for its food and services by three different organisations.
The Crown Inn in Upton started the New Year on a real high after winning a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award for restaurants in late 2022, making it one of the top 10 per cent restaurants in the world.
The pub is also celebrating a write-up in this year's Good Food Guide with an overall rating of good and comments like “a little bit of magic can happen when a traditional country pub is taken over by an experienced and driven chef.”
Chef and owner Dave Watts, who has been trained with Raymond Blanc and Gary Jones at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, was then delighted to find The Crown in this year's final round of Trencherman's Awards – the highly-coveted scheme rewarding the best chefs, food, and guest experience in the area.

The Crown Inn is no stranger to being recognised by highly prized award schemes – with inclusion in the prestigious Michelin Guide 2021, a place in the Trencherman's Award finals in the Best Trencherman's Pub category in 2021, one of the top five destination pubs in the Muddy Stillettos award scheme, and a mention in Sawdays Pubs and Inns – a guide to the best places to eat and drink in the UK.
Dave Watts was also chosen as an interviewee for James Martin's Saturday Morning on ITV, the celebrity showing a keen interest in Dave's activity, especially the Charcuterie at Parsonage Farm and all it has to offer.

He said: “I feel optimistic about 2023 despite all that's facing us. Our customers have remained loyal and are still enjoying a visit to us, whether it's for a classic, a plat du jour or a meal from the a la carte menu.
“By staying true to our philosophy of using the best of seasonal local produce, creating imaginative menus, changing them on a regular basis and offering an excellent experience that people will remember, we're confident we can face any difficulties ahead.”
Dave’s team also celebrated a great festive season before tackling the downturn in spending for the New Year by launching a special classics menu.
