AN academy in Tidworth has been recognised as a dyslexia-friendly school.

Zouch Academy in Wavell Road, Tidworth, won the recognition following verification visits from the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) at the end of last year.

The award is issued to schools or organisations that can demonstrate they provide high-quality education and/or practice for dyslexic individuals.

Becoming a dyslexia-friendly school requires the involvement and engagement of all staff within the school and reviews a school's approach to teaching and learning; monitoring and assessment; differentiation; and high-quality practice across the range of ability and needs.

Principal Nina Johnson said Zouch Academy is “incredibly proud of the quality first teaching they provide and relished the opportunity to develop this further”.

The team was thankful for the report, which opened with praises for the school.

The report said: "This is a school where there is no glass ceiling on learning. The children are at the core of all decisions made at the school. The headteacher’s drive and determination that all pupils will succeed, is shared by everyone at the school.

"All staff have the same high expectations for every pupil. They see that every pupil is entitled to the best educational experience in a nurturing, safe and trusting environment. The Headteacher leads a team of highly skilled professionals who collaboratively work towards achieving the school’s goals and priorities."
