AN ANDOVER woman has been left heartbroken after her front gate, which had great sentimental value to her family, has been stolen. 

Angela Wybrow is urging people to help her find the front gate which was unique and designed by her beloved father, Ken.

The gate, described by Angela as a "local landmark", had been a part of her home for the past 40 years until it was stolen from the front garden along Pilgrims Way at the beginning of January.

She said: "My mum would also be very upset if she knew it had been stolen, but she has severe dementia, so she doesn't really understand.

"We were really proud of it, and it took pride of place at the entrance to our front garden. We feel very upset and angry that someone has just helped themselves, and come onto our property uninvited."

The black-painted gate featured a trotting horse and scrollwork and was made by a blacksmith who was a family friend.

Since Angela had her gate stolen, she has received anonymous offers from residents to forge a new one - one of which she has accepted. 

Even though she will be having the new gate put in place at the end of February, which Angela expressed she is very grateful for, her search to retrieve her father's gate is not over. 

Hampshire Constabulary received a report that the gate had been stolen from the property and said an investigation has been filed pending further or new information, at which point it may be reopened.
