RESIDENTS struggling to pay housing costs have been urged to apply for funding help but the deadline for applications is looming.

One-off payments of £125 per household in the Test Valley are available, for those who can show they are struggling to meet their housing costs and may be in arrears.

Residents do not need to be in receipt of universal credit or any other benefits to qualify for support.

If approved, grants will be paid directly into residents' bank accounts or will be paid directly to landlords.

Leader of TVBC, Cllr Phil North said: "We appreciate how tough it is at the moment for some people just to pay for the essential items, with the rise in the cost of living.

"I know how difficult it can be to ask for help sometimes, but I would really encourage anyone who may be in this situation to think about applying for a grant.

“That money is there to support our residents and we want to be able to help as many people as possible.”

Applications for the scheme close on Tuesday, March 21 and those applying will need to upload ID and proof of rent liability.

Residents will hear about the outcome of your application within 28 days of submitting it.
