A MAN has avoided prison after speaking with an underage boy online.
Ian Hackett, 60, pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
He appeared at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on Thursday, March 9.
Hackett, of Pearl Houses, Andover Road, was sentenced to six months imprisonment suspended for two years.
He was also ordered to pay £213 and complete 15 days of rehabilitation alongside a Horizon-accredited programme.
As reported by Wiltshire 999s, Hackett initially spoke to the boy on a dating site and later on WhatsApp between 15 April and 26 April 2021.
