AN ANDOVER business has been named company of the year and made it into the final of the British HR Awards.
Scientific Management International (SMI), and industrial equipment supplier based at North Way in Andover, was named company of the year 2023 at the Subsea Expo Awards.
SMI’s fit-and-forget cable systems act as the central nervous system for boats, ships, planes, and trains, and as a critical part of platform infrastructure to many a Navy across the globe.
For the Andover company, 2022 was a significant year of growth as it celebrate a milestone 30th birthday and increased its headcount by 50 per cent.

The company said it also brought online a new factory and delivered an 80 per cent increase in turnover for its hostile environment cable harness systems.
The celebrations culminated as the team gathered in Aberdeen and were presented with the accolade.
SMI’s chief executive officer, Jenny Shaw, said: “This recognition comes after a challenging period of tremendous growth, post-Brexit and throughout the pandemic.
"I am delighted that our contribution to the subsea sector has been recognised and being HR Award finalist is a recognition of our commitment to our people, who are our greatest asset."
