Have you tried the newest Artificial Intelligence system - ChatGPT?

The website has become a hit because of its ability to hold conversations and generate speeches, songs and essays.

Basically, people can ask ChatGPT anything and it will respond in a natural, human way. 

While some people are opting to use the site for fun, others are concerned it may become the new way to write school essays and even news articles, and could even replace journalists. 

We put ChatGPT to the test to see how well it knows Basingstoke. 

First of all, we asked it to write a love letter to the town and this is what it came up with...

Dear Andover,

You have been a part of my life for so many years, and I am filled with love and admiration for all that you have given me. From the bustling Westpoint Shopping Centre, to the magical Lights, I have so many wonderful memories of our time together.

It is clear that there are some issues with this, mainly the fact that there is not a Westpoint Shopping Centre in Andover. 

We've turned to Google and found that there is a Westpoint Shopping Centre in Nottinghamshire, near Andover Road so we think that is where it picked it up. 

Next, we suggested it write a poem to the town. Here's what ChatGPT said...

Finally, we asked it to predict what the town might look like in ten years. It replied... 

"In 10 years time, Andover will be a bustling and vibrant town, with a new and improved Westpoint Shopping Centre, a modern cinema complex at The Lights, and plenty of exciting new restaurants and bars to explore"
