A PUB in Lower Chute that won a prestigious national pub and bar award two years ago has been handed a three-star hygiene rating.
It came following a recent inspection by a food safety officer.
The Hatchet Inn, in Lower Chute, was inspected on Thursday, February 9, and was given ‘generally satisfactory’ overall rating.
The pub received generally satisfactory ratings (three stars) for three categories – hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety.

The Hatchet Inn was named the best pub in Wiltshire at The National Pub and Bar Awards in 2021.
Its landlord Jerry Mckay said he did not want to comment on the rating, but added that the pub has requested the Food Standards Agency for a re-inspection.
“We are waiting for the inspector to visit us in the next few weeks,” Mr Mckay said.
