RANGERS deployed by Andover Business Improvement District (BID) successfully foiled an attempted shoplifting plan at town centre stores.
The rangers were alerted by their two-way radio system that “illegal activity” was taking place at the Save It Discount Store at 55-57 Bridge Street and Wilko at 22-30 Bridge Street.
They were able to respond quickly, identifying and detaining those involved.
An Andover BID spokesperson said this was a perfect example of strong partnership between businesses.

“The Rangers supplied by Venture Security on behalf of Andover BID work closely in partnership with town centre businesses, and other agencies including the police. We provide two highly trained personnel who know the town well, supporting businesses as well as being ambassadors to the public.
“In an average month, the Andover BID Rangers deal with up to 400 different incidents which may range from shoplifting to antisocial behaviour, as well as being helpful ambassadors to the public, signposting, and helping with first-aid incidents, and missing children. This incident sends a very clear message to potential thieves that that Andover Town Council Centre does not tolerate shoplifting or antisocial behaviour.”
