A PUPIL at an Appleshaw school is celebrating winning a Test Valley competition to design a Coronation celebration card to be sent to King Charles III.
Katerina, a Year 6 pupil at Appleshaw St Peter’s CofE Primary School, was announced as the winner of the competition organised by Test Valley Borough Council.

The mayor, Cllr Alan Dowden, and mayoress Cllr Celia Dowden, chose Katerina’s picture from 500 entries received from schools across the borough.
The card will be signed by the mayor on behalf of Test Valley residents and sent to the King.
As part of Katerina’s win, the mayor and mayoress visited the school on Friday, April 28, to officially announce her achievement.

A school spokesperson said: “In full mayoral regalia, the mayor and mayoress arrived in assembly causing waves of excitement amongst the children. Katerina, whose proud parents were also in attendance, was delighted with her win.”
Katerina, along with four friends and class teacher Sarah Dabill have been invited to the mayor’s parlour at Andover Guildhall to have juice and cakes to celebrate her win.
The spokesperson added: “As a school, we are incredibly proud of Katerina and all the children who entered the competition and look forward to seeing Katerina’s artwork made into a card.”
