RESIDENTS in Overton have been left perplexed after water has continuously been running over a road in the village for months.
The water on Station Road has been rising out of one of the drain covers on the footpath, before running along the footpath and into the road.
It is thought the issue on the road is due to the high water table in the area, which could be because water is now not being used as regularly and in such volume at Portals Mill.

The water has been an issue on the road for a number of months, with the constant water on the footpath resulting in it becoming slippery underfoot.
A resident in the area, who did not wish to be named, had said someone had fallen on the slippery footpath within the last couple of weeks.
The resident said: "The water here has been a consistent issue for a long time now, and it's becoming a bit ridiculous. It's started coming up through places in both the footpath and the road, and it won't be long until there's some serious damage done to the road here, if it's not already been done."

A spokesperson for Southern Water said: "We last investigated this on May 12 and have attended several times. The cause is a natural spring and is related to the high water table in the area."
A Hampshire County Council spokesperson said: “We have received a number of reports of excess water on Station Road and are arranging for an engineer to conduct an urgent inspection to try and ascertain the cause. Once known, we can determine what needs to be done to resolve the issue.”
