NEW play equipment in Hurstbourne Tarrant has been opened thanks to a selfless donation from a local shop owner.
Hurstbourne Tarrant Parish Council recently opened a piece of new roundabout play equipment in its local park.
The new accessible play equipment on the King George V playing field was opened on Monday, June 5.
The event was attended by Family Shopper owner Vinoth Kumar, who donated the money for the project.
Vinoth donated his holiday money during Covid and a cash prize he won for supporting the community during lockdown to help install the equipment.

The other source of funding for the project came from generous donations by the Barber Charvet Trust on behalf of a bequest in the will of long-term Ibthorpe resident, late Frank Barber.
The new play equipment has been a hit with kids, especially the children from Hurstbourne Tarrant Primary School. It was supplied and installed by GL Jones Playgrounds.
“I’m so pleased that the new play equipment is finally open for children to enjoy,” said Vinoth. “It was important to me to give something back to the community after all the support I received during the pandemic. I hope the children will get many years of fun from it.”
Council chairman Ian Kitson said: “We are very grateful to Vinoth Kumar and the Barber Charvet Trust for their generous donations. The new play equipment is a great addition to the community and will be enjoyed by residents for many years to come.”
