AN ANDOVER-based company has spoken of its ambition to bring eBike production to Hampshire.
Mark2 Electric Bikes was formed in 2016 and was taken over in early 2020 by Edward Thomas and has rapidly become a leading eBike brand.
The company based on East Portway Business Park recently welcomed Andover’s MP Kit Malthouse and discussed plans to bring eBike production to the town.
Owner Edward said: “We were delighted to welcome Kit to Mark2 HQ in Andover in order to show him our expanding range of electric bikes and share our vision for our own brand of eBike production for the UK.
“Our aim is to bring our eBike production to Hampshire and assemble them right here in Andover — they will play a huge part in our green economic future.”
Mark2’s electric bikes are currently available to purchase both online and via its five showrooms based across the country, where customers can carry out test rides.
Mr Malthouse added: “I used to be a dedicated commuter on an electric bike and think they are fantastic bits of kit. I got out of the habit sadly, but visiting Mark2 has reignited my enthusiasm. The obvious quality of their bikes and their passion for what they do marks the company out. And of course, it’s always grand to see an Andover business doing so well. Indeed they are planning to further strengthen our local manufacturing industry by assembling their bikes in our town.
“They are available on the government’s Cycle to Work scheme too, which means they come with a big discount and I would recommend taking a look.”
