PETROL heads at one of the UK’s largest car festivals will be able to enjoy a taste of Shropshire this weekend thanks to a bumper order for a Shrewsbury-based artisan doughnut maker.
Planet Doughnut will supply a selection of its best-selling flavours at CarFest, taking place at Laverstoke Park Farm.
The festival, launched in 2013, has raised over £20m for children's charities including Children in Need, the Starlight Children’s Foundation and Teenage Cancer Trust.

This year’s star-studded festival lineup includes Razorlight, McFly and Sophie Ellis Bextor as well as a set by stylist turned DJ Gok Wan and appearances by comedy legends including Lee Mack and Eddie Izzard.
Launched six years ago from founder Duncan McGregor’s family garage in Shrewsbury, Planet Doughnut is well known for its inventiveness and quirky flavour combinations with an ever-changing menu of over 100 handmade varieties.

This latest order comes following a string of high-profile orders for the firm including a request for 16,000 custom doughnuts for the London leg of global superstar Beyonce’s world tour at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The bakery has also created custom doughnuts for the likes of Cartoon Network and Porsche as well as rolling its products out to over 70 Central Co-Op stores across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire,Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
Owner Duncan said: “CarFest is a fantastic festival that has raised millions of pounds for children’s charities over the years so we’re delighted to be a part of it this year. The bakery has been a hive of activity as we put the finishing touches to hundreds of doughnuts ready to deliver to Hampshire just in time for the bank holiday weekend and we can’t wait for CarFest visitors to get their hands on the best that Shropshire has to offer!
“And of course, with founder Chris Evans opting for a largely vegan diet, so we’ll be making sure there’s plenty of our delicious plant-based options on offer too.”
